An Interview With Our New Summer Intern

Hello CYC Adventurers,

My name is Stephanie and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Summer Intern for the CYC!

I have been working as the Summer Intern for the CYC since May so this is a little past due; but hey, better late than never, right? My job as the Summer Intern is pretty wonderful. I get to spend my days working with Miss Katie and Miss Meghan creating administrative documents and writing  blog posts and newsletters that I then get to share with all of you. I have also gotten to spend a lot of time with the wonderful kids of the CYC by helping out with Afterschool Adventure and the Harrison Park Media Team. To get to know me a little better, check out the interview I had with myself below.

Q. What is your favorite part of working at the CYC?

A.  I would have to say that my favorite part of working at the CYC  is getting to work with the kids on their writing and reading. Being able to watch their skills develop and confidences grow week after week has been an extremely exciting and rewarding experience.

Q. What do you do when you are not at the CYC?

A. Currently, I am a full-time student at Grand Valley State University where I study writing and biology. Outside of school, I enjoy reading anything I can get my hands on and watching classic movies. I also spend a great deal of my time as a rowing coach for a local Grand Rapids high school.

Q. What was your favorite book as a kid?

A. This is such a tough question! I would have to say that my all-time favorite books as a kid were the Junie B. Jones books. I could never get enough of those when I was in elementary school.

Q. Where is your favorite place to go on adventures?

A. Northern Michigan, no question about it. Winter, spring, summer, or fall Northern Michigan is the best place to be.

Q. What’s one piece of advice you would give adventurers everywhere?

A. Be flexible in life. Have a plan but don’t be afraid to wander from it. Life has a funny way of working itself out in ways you could never imagine.
