Map Folders and Monkey Tamers Inquire Within. (The CYC Needs Volunteers!)

Hello Friends of the CYC!

As you know, it is a ridiculously exciting time at the CYC. Because we received a tremendous grant from the Kellogg foundation, (check out the press release here) we are growing! We have all sorts of new programs that are coming together, like recent collaborations with The Hispanic Center of West Michigan and Alger Middle School, plans for summer programming, and opening our Adventure Supply Store.

But all the new programs can’t work without your support. We want to reach as many kids in Grand Rapids as possible, but we can’t do it all without your help! There is a place to volunteer at the CYC for everyone. We are always looking for tutors and volunteers for writing workshops and programs such as press club. Oh, and how could I forget compass configurers and expert map-folders?

Additionally, because of our new plans and expansion, we are looking for all sorts of new people to get involved. Do you have a cool job or skill that would be a fun idea for a workshop? Do you have some talent to help us design our space or build bookshelves or furniture? If you like parties, maybe you can help us plan fundraising events! Equally important is our need for hot air balloon handlers and monkey tamers. Chances are, if you are in the know about the CYC, then you have some sort of creative skill or talent that you can share with us!

So, if you are curious, fill out the volunteer form!  We have orientations every month that are just waiting for your attendance. The next volunteer orientation is March 25th at 6:00 pm. We can’t wait to see you there.
