Writing & Social Media Intern
As a CYC intern, you’ll gain valuable experience in program management, nonprofit administration, and writing/editing while simultaneously having outrageous amounts of fun. Internships are generally a minimum of 10 hours a week and are unpaid positions. Open internship positions are posted to our blog and advertised at area colleges and universities. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, two references, and available weekday hours to Brianne Carpenter at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are no longer accepting applications for the 2018-2019 internship. Please check back in Spring 2019.
Afterschool Adventure Book Club // Mon, Tues, or Wed // 3:30-4:30
Reading Buddies love reading and are eager to share their excitement around language and literature while building a one-on-one relationship with their student. Book Club pairs read together and enjoy reading-related activities. Volunteers exhibit patience, encouragement, and a willingness to engage with their student’s interests. A creative writing or teaching background is not required but would be a boon.
Creative Writing Helpers
Afterschool Adventure // M,T, or W // 4:15-5:45 Amplify // Thursday // 4:00-5:45 Craft // Thursday // 6:00-7:45
A total of two volunteers are needed to work closely with our program staff in the creative writing portions of CYC programming. Writing volunteers must have both a teaching AND creative writing background, be comfortable instructing in a small group setting, and have the ability to draw from their own background in creative writing to help students grow as writers. Volunteers are expected to stay after programming for occasional 1-hour team meetings and trainings.
